Roads Officer – East Lothian Council
Salary: £37,465 per annum (Point 3 of the salary scale). The hourly rate is £19.45–£21.75.
Working hours: Monday to Friday. Working times are to be confirmed but flexible hours are available. The role is available immediately.
Role Overview The Roads Officer will maintain the quality and standards of East Lothian’s roads and related infrastructure. Key responsibilities include carrying out topographical surveys and inspections, preparing road designs and CAD drawings, producing contract documentation using the NEC suite, and fulfilling CDM (2015) designer duties including pre‑construction information. You will assess, prioritise and prepare work orders, supervise works onsite by internal teams or external contractors and ensure compliance with contract requirements and best practice.
Qualifications
* Educated to HNC/SVQ Level 2 in Civil Engineering or equivalent knowledge gained through relevant experience.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to build effective working relationships quickly.
* Excellent IT proficiency; digital technology is integral to the role.
* Current UK driving licence and access to a vehicle required.
