Job Overview
As a Level 4 Apprentice Digital Designer/CAD Technician within our Digital Design team in Redditch, you will collaborate with skilled Technicians and Engineers on challenging and rewarding major water projects. You'll master the use of industry‑leading 3D and 2D software like Civil 3D and Revit, developing your CAD proficiency.
Within our Water division, you'll join a diverse team of Engineers and Modellers. You will learn to utilise CAD software to produce drawings for vital infrastructure projects, contributing to innovative and sustainable water solutions for our communities.
Your work will involve creating site layout/location plans and developing 3D models of civil engineering structures, such as manholes, pumping stations, and treatment works. You'll collaborate with other disciplines, including mechanical and electrical engineers, to ensure the successful delivery of high‑quality project solutions.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation of project drawings and BIM models, understanding, interpreting, and implementing local client CAD standards and BIM data requirements.
* Collaborate with engineers, consultants and technicians from multiple disciplines.
* Learn to ensure compliance with Health and Safety and apply safe systems of work, including the CDM Regulations.
* Contribute to the minimisation of the environmental impact of construction projects.
* Control the quality of works.
* Ensure compliance with equality, diversity and inclusion and ethical standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
* GCSEs: At least 5 GCSEs (Maths & English) at grade 4‑5 (C) or above. Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths also accepted.
* UCAS tariff points: Minimum 96 points.
* A level: CCC, including mathematics at grade C or above and one other analytical subject (physics, biology/human biology, chemistry, computer science, further mathematics, or design and technology) at grade C.
* BTEC (Level 3) Extended Diploma: MMM; must include a Merit or above in Mathematics and Further Mathematics in Construction units. Accepted courses: Engineering or Construction and Built Environment.
* Analytical subjects include physics, biology/human biology, chemistry, computer science, further mathematics and design and technology.
* Adapting skills: remain calm in new and changing situations; cooperate across dynamic tasks.
* Persevering attitude: stay composed in the face of setbacks, approaching challenges with confidence and determination.
* Collaborative mindset: work effectively with many people, considering others' perspectives to shape better outcomes.

Apprenticeship Details
This apprenticeship will enable you to learn whilst you earn as you study for an academic qualification. You will gain a Level 4 Civil Engineering Senior Technician Apprenticeship by attending either Leeds School of Building (block release) or Coventry University (day release). The choice will be discussed further during the recruitment process.
Applicants must have an unconditional right to live and work in the UK for an indefinite period without limitation.
Working Conditions
Apprentices are expected to work from the office 4 days per week to ensure colleagues can provide appropriate support.
