About the role Morson Talent is working in partnership with a major highways organisation to recruit a Lighting Engineer for a role based within the East region. This is an excellent opportunity to work on critical highway infrastructure, supporting the development and delivery of lighting improvement and renewal schemes that contribute to safer journeys for road users.
You will work alongside technical specialists and project teams, using your engineering, asset management and stakeholder skills to help identify asset needs and develop lighting schemes in line with defined policies and standards.
The role offers a hybrid working arrangement with office locations in Bedford, Cambridge or Ipswich .
Please note: This role requires driving as part of your duties. Candidates must hold a valid driving licence with no more than 3 penalty points, both at application stage and throughout employment.
Key responsibilities Develop lighting improvement and renewal schemes, including the production of supporting documentation, evidence and options for value management
Consider new techniques, materials, buildability and cost efficiencies when developing solutions
Assist with the collation, identification and evaluation of asset data to support early-stage solution development, in line with agreed methodologies and prioritisation criteria
Identify survey requirements, prepare briefs and manage survey works that support asset improvement and renewal activities
Contribute to asset-led forward programmes and early scheme development
Provide technical support to Project Managers, including: Assisting with materials approvals
Reviewing contractor compliance
Providing inspection support on site
Reviewing health and safety documentation
About you You will be a technically competent engineer with experience in highway lighting or related infrastructure environments. You'll ideally have:
A degree or HND in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent industry experience
Knowledge of Confirm, CMS (Central Management Systems) or similar asset management systems
A good understanding of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards and their application to lighting asset maintenance
Experience using AutoCAD and/or Lighting Reality
Knowledge of construction and delivery methodologies, with an understanding of CDM Regulations 2015
