An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Paediatric Emergency Department at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital for a Band 7 Education & Development Practitioner. The department is a busy inner‑city major trauma centre and sees around 50,000 children a year.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the Ward Manager and the senior nursing team to ensure all staff, particularly new starters, are supported to learn and develop new specialist skills. This role offers an opportunity for an organised, knowledgeable nurse proficient in caring for children in emergency settings to gain further leadership and education‑teaching experience.
Responsibilities
* Work alongside the PED Band 6 Clinical Educator and nursing colleagues to establish a training programme for the department that meets national standards and targets.
* Develop, support and implement education, training and development strategies within PED.
* Provide leadership to ensure the achievement and maintenance of professional standards of education for both pre‑registration and post‑registration education.
* Provide guidance and advice, with the Senior Nurse Team, regarding future nursing educational requirements and ensure effective plans are in place to develop a competent and confident nursing workforce aligned to the Trust Nursing and Midwifery Strategy and values.
