Grounds Team Leader
An exciting opportunity has become available to work as a Team Leader within the Grounds Maintenance department. The position is for 1 FTE (37 hours) per week.
About you
You will be involved in the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of highways grass cutting operations, ensuring services are efficient, cost-effective and of a high standard. You will play a key role in identifying and implementing efficiencies across grounds maintenance activities, making best use of resources, equipment and workforce deployment.
You will oversee day-to-day operational delivery, ensuring teams are well-led, organised and equipped to carry out their work safely and effectively. This will include monitoring performance, reviewing schedules and working methods, and driving improvements to maximise productivity and value for money.
As part of this role, you will support the assessment of current and future workload demands, helping to shape service delivery plans that ensure the right people and resources are in place at the right time. You will also work closely with contractors and partners where required, ensuring services meet agreed standards and specifications.
You will contribute to the development of practical, efficient service solutions, including route optimisation, use of machinery, and innovative approaches to grass cutting and highways maintenance.

The successful candidate will have:
1. Good working knowledge of digital systems or tools used for job allocation, route planning, and performance monitoring;
2. The ability to analyse workloads, prioritise tasks effectively, and adapt plans to changing operational needs;
3. The ability to communicate effectively and confidently with colleagues, contractors, and members of the public;
4. A flexible and hands-on approach to work, responding to seasonal demands and service needs;
5. An understanding of safe working practices, risk assessments, and relevant environmental standards.
