Job description
Provide a high standard physiotherapy service to a variety of patients referred to Woodside Clinic, predominately musculoskeletal patients and patients with orthopaedic conditions.
Responsibilities
Obtain a thorough history from the patient and perform assessments using investigative and analytical skills in order to formulate an accurate diagnosis. This will include the use of observational and manual skills.
To determine and modify treatment plans for patients utilizing a range of treatment skills and options including some specialist techniques (e.g. education, manual techniques, acupuncture, electrotherapy).
To communicate with patient, carers and other health professionals to maximize rehabilitation potential and ensure an understanding of condition is gained.
To be skilled in the use of communication skills, including persuasion, motivation and explanation to encourage patients to undertake their treatment program.
To explain all interventions to the patient in such a way as to gain informed consent for treatment and to motivate them to undertake a treatment program, which might involve radical changes in the way, they view their condition and lifestyle.
To be skilled in providing written and oral communication to GPs, consultants and other professionals concerning the progress and outcomes of physiotherapy intervention and requesting investigations or interventions by other bodies.
Use the appropriate outcome measure tools to continuously assess and evaluate own clinical practice.
To manage clinical risk within own patient caseload.
Work within the clinic and CSP guidelines, to have a good working knowledge of national and local standards in order to monitor own and others quality of practice as appropriate.
To maintain accurate and comprehensive patient treatment records in line with Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) standards of practice.
