Job Role: Finance Manager Location: Braintree, Essex Salary: £38,000 - £40,000 Job Type: Full-time, Office-based A friendly and close-knit business in the food distribution sector is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join their small UK team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone confident working independently and keen to grow within a supportive environment. The company currently uses Microsoft Navision and will be moving to Business Central in 2026. Key Responsibilities * Maintain purchase and sales ledgers * Process invoices, allocate receipts, handle queries, and prepare payment runs * Credit control including credit checks, chasing payments, and approving orders * Bank reconciliations and internal transfers * Journals including accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, depreciation, VAT prep, petty cash, and intercompany transactions * Liaise with outsourced payroll provider and process staff, PAYE, and pension payments * Prepare monthly P&L, Balance Sheet, Trial Balance, and management accounts * Submit internal financial reports and quarterly questionnaires * Support VAT submissions, compliance reporting (EPR, Plastic Tax, national surveys), and annual return requirements * General administrative and finance support as needed About You * AAT-qualified or similar, with 2–5 years’ finance experience * Comfortable working in a small team and using your own initiative * Flexible, proactive, and eager to learn * Positive attitude with strong attention to detail Ready to take on a broad and rewarding Finance Manager position?
