Job Overview
Advanced‑level healthcare science practitioner within invasive cardiac physiology, responsible for performing and interpreting complex invasive cardiovascular investigations, interventions, and long‑term device monitoring for elective, urgent and emergency patients. The role leads service improvement, contributes to research and development, and provides specialist training and supervision to junior colleagues.
Responsibilities
* Independent/lead practitioner in CRM follow‑up (Brady and tachy devices)
* Independent/lead practitioner in CRM implant (including CSP and complex devices)
* Manage own case load across all home monitoring sites (all manufacturers)
* Triage patients including IP and symptomatic patients, manage workload
* Escalate abnormal findings appropriately
* Apply knowledge of algorithms to programming changes
* Provide advice and guidance to patients, community and other hospital services (e.g. MRI, radiotherapy)
* De‑activate devices liaising with families where appropriate
* Attend pacemaker user group, MDT meetings and case presentations as required
* Interpret MDAs and participate in establishing management plans for affected patients
* Maintain accurate record keeping in adherence to NICOR guidance
* Supervise junior staff and students
Qualifications
* Degree in clinical physiology or healthcare science with additional training to master’s level (e.g. BHRS, IBHRE, EHRA certification)
* HCPC registration as a clinical scientist
* Experience of teaching (delivery of in‑house training to students and workplace colleagues)
* Mentoring qualification
Experience
* Significant proven independent CRM device experience, including implant with autonomous reporting
* Proven experience across a broad range of cardiac diagnostic and intervention procedures
* Experience of audit and data reporting
