Main duties of the job
Our Practice Nurses are responsible for delivering high quality clinical care and health promotion services within our Practice, including treatment room procedures such as wound care, suture and staple removal, venepuncture, ECGs, observations, near patient testing, and specimen preparation. The role includes providing baby, child and adult immunisations, cervical cytology, travel health advice and vaccinations, administering injections under PGDs/PSDs, and undertaking annual reviews for patients with long term conditions. Practice Nurses support preventive care through health promotion activities such as smoking cessation, alcohol screening, weight management and lifestyle advice, while maintaining accurate clinical records, adhering to infection prevention and control standards, and completing emergency equipment checks. They are also responsible for effective stock and equipment management, including dressings, vaccines, injectable medications, fridge monitoring and for actioning relevant clinical tasks within the clinical system.
