Technical Author
Location: Cheltenham
Contract Length: 24 months
About the Role
We are seeking two experienced Technical Authors to create, maintain, and deliver high-quality technical documentation for our products. You'll work closely with engineering, design, and test teams to produce clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation that supports both customers and internal stakeholders.
This is an excellent opportunity for detail-oriented authors who can translate complex technical information into well-structured documents and diagrams.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain existing documentation, ensuring it remains accurate, current, and aligned with company standards
* Produce new design and build documents, including technical specifications and user manuals
* Develop test plans and other supporting technical materials in collaboration with internal teams
* Engage with subject matter experts to gather technical information
* Use corporate drawing tools (Visio, CorelDRAW) to create diagrams and illustrations
* Create, edit, and manage PDFs using Adobe Acrobat
* Ensure documentation is consistent in style, format, terminology, and quality
* Build a strong understanding of company products and technologies to ensure accurate and relevant output
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience as a Technical Author in a technical or engineering environment
* Strong writing, structuring, and content-design skills
* Ability to interpret complex technical information and explain it clearly
* Proficiency with Visio, CorelDRAW, and Adobe Acrobat
* Excellent attention to detail and commitment to documentation quality
* Comfortable working closely with technical teams and subject matter experts
