This role is part of the team that focusses on the devolved administrations city regions and local authorities across the UK. We aim to support the sector in creating the right conditions for innovation to flourish, securing commercial opportunities for Places, City regions and local authorities and other CPC ecosystems. For West Midlands, CPC is looking to build presence in the region as a key innovation partner and this role is critical in leading that.
Purpose of the role
As the Head of Regional Delivery, you will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of delivery within the West Midlands region, ensuring alignment with the organisation's strategic objectives, maintaining strong partnerships with key stakeholders and ensuring delivery of CPC Region Programmes to time and budget.
In essence, this role leads our West Midlands based activity through;
· Maintaining key West Midlands place-based partnerships.
· Ensuring successful delivery of West Midlands programmes
· Establishing internal capability and capacity to develop robust value propositions that drive a pipeline of prioritised commercial opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
· Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a plan for regional delivery in the West Midlands that aligns with our sales plan and supports the overall goals and mission of Connected Places Catapult.
· Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key delivery stakeholders including government agencies, local authorities, industry partners, academic institutions, and community organizations to foster collaboration and drive innovation in the region.
· Programme Management: Oversee the successful delivery of projects and initiatives within the West Midlands, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Overall responsibility for running the CPC Birmingham Office.
· Team Management: Lead and inspire a diverse team of professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to drive excellence in performance and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.
· Business Development: Working with the Head of Region Sales, identify and pursue opportunities for new projects, partnerships, and funding streams to support the growth and sustainability of regional initiatives.
· Policy and Advocacy: Stay abreast of relevant policy developments and advocate for policies that support the advancement of connected place initiatives in the West Midlands.
· Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track the impact and effectiveness of regional delivery activities and use data-driven insights to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
· Team Working: Working closely with CPC leads, including across Region Sales, Global, Academic, SME and Ecosystem Directors. Work closely with relevant programme sponsors, ensuring they are informed and engaged.
- You may be required to undertake any other reasonable duties o support the Catapult in achieving its strategic outcomes and ensure effective business operations.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, project management, and stakeholder engagement, preferably in the fields of urban innovation, smart cities, or connected places.
· Proven leadership abilities with a track record of successfully leading and motivating teams to deliver high quality outputs.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and adapt to evolving priorities and challenges.
· Knowledge of the West Midlands region and its economic, social, and political landscape is
desirable.
· Passion for innovation, sustainability, and creating positive impact in urban environments.
· Experience working with senior public sector officials.
· Knowledge of the West Midlands region and its economic, social, and political landscape is desirable.
· Knowledge of new and emerging technologies as they effect and impact upon place.
· Experience of developing successful account planning approaches.
· Knowledge of working with and for central Government and its associated organisations
· Awareness of potential funding programmes and opportunities
