Role: Trustee (Fundraising and Marketing Specialist)
Location: Remote/Hybrid with occasional in‑person meetings in Berkshire/Hampshire.
Time Commitment: 6–12 days per year, including board meetings, sub‑committee meetings, and occasional events.
Remuneration: Voluntary (expenses reimbursed)
We are seeking a Trustee with expertise in fundraising and marketing to join our Board and play a vital role in shaping the future of our charity. Your skills will help drive sustainable income, strengthen awareness of our work, and ensure our message reaches the people who need us – and the supporters who make our work possible.
As a Trustee, you will work collaboratively with the Board and the executive team to provide strategic oversight and guidance on fundraising and marketing initiatives. You will bring fresh thinking, clear insight, and a genuine passion for supporting the charity’s mission, touching hearts and inspiring action.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide strategic input into the charity’s fundraising strategy to support long‑term, sustainable income generation.
* Support the development of innovative fundraising campaigns to engage donors, corporates, and community partners.
* Oversee the effectiveness of donor stewardship programmes, ensuring a strong pipeline of supporters and lasting relationships.
Marketing and Communications
* Guide the charity’s marketing and communications strategy to raise awareness and bring our work to life in the community we serve.
* Provide expertise in digital marketing, branding, and content creation to strengthen outreach efforts.
* Ensure the charity’s messaging aligns with its mission and values, and connects with key audiences in a meaningful way.
Governance and Strategic Leadership
* Contribute to the charity’s overall strategy, ensuring alignment with fundraising and marketing objectives.
* Provide oversight of risks related to fundraising and reputational management.
* Support and challenge the executive team to ensure impactful campaigns and communications.
Board Contribution
* Attend and actively participate in board and sub‑committee meetings.
* Act as an ambassador for the charity, helping build relationships with donors, corporates, and local communities.
* Share fundraising and marketing insights to inform strategic decision‑making and future planning.

Essential Skills and Experience
* Significant experience in fundraising, marketing, or communications, ideally within the non‑profit sector.
* Proven ability to develop and implement successful fundraising strategies and marketing campaigns.
* Strong understanding of donor acquisition, retention, and stewardship practices.
* Knowledge of digital marketing, branding, and public relations.
* Strategic thinker with a track record of driving income and brand growth.
Desirable Skills and Experience
* Previous experience as a Trustee or serving on a board.
* Well‑connected locally, with the ability to open doors and build partnerships in the community.
* Familiarity with grant applications, corporate partnerships, or community fundraising.
