We are currently recruiting for a QA Supervisor based at our Llanidoles site. This will be a 5-day onsite role. The successful candidate will lead a small QA team to ensure efficient operations, inspection, monitoring activities, and that all dressed carcasses meet customer standards and comply with industry and legislative requirements. The role involves maintaining food safety, legality, quality, and health & safety standards in a physically demanding, safety-critical environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage the QA team to carry out inspection of carcasses and monitoring activities such as sterilizer temperature, pH, microbiological testing, metal detection, product temperature, labeling, dentition, scales, and carcass scanning at defined intervals.
2. Foster teamwork between Production and Quality teams to produce high-quality products meeting customer specifications.
3. Ensure all tasks within the work area are performed to protect product safety, legality, authenticity, and quality, in line with FSQM, Health & Safety procedures, and certification standards.
4. Coordinate with internal departments and external bodies like FSA and OV to ensure site compliance.
5. Oversee proper use and storage of PPE, including knives.
6. Provide data for KPI monitoring and reporting on product safety, authenticity, legality, and quality activities to senior management.
7. Promote a food safety and quality culture through visible leadership and behavior reinforcement.
8. Maintain product integrity during production and report unsafe or out-of-specification products or equipment to the Technical Manager.
9. Conduct GMP audits, start-up checks, and report potential hazards or safety infringements.
10. Identify, segregate, and dispose of non-conforming products to prevent their release into the food chain, and scan carcass tickets on detained lines.
11. Implement training programs to ensure team members are trained, instructed, and equipped to perform their duties safely and effectively.
12. Lead, motivate, and develop the QA team, fostering continuous improvement and a positive food safety culture.
13. Ensure high standards of personal hygiene and promote health and safety behaviors, leading to a strong safety culture.
14. Maintain monitoring equipment to ensure proper operation and food safety assurance, reporting concerns to the Technical Manager.
15. Act as Deputy for the QA Team Leader when required.
16. Support and participate in OPEX meetings as needed.
17. Oversee the completion of quality records, ensuring they are full, compliant, and corrective actions are taken when necessary.
18. Build strong relationships through excellent communication, demonstrating calmness, logic, and leadership skills.
19. Manage site non-compliances effectively and undertake prompt corrective actions.
20. Demonstrate commitment to health, safety, and hygiene standards, as well as company policies on equality and diversity.
21. Possess relevant knife skills and complete knife safety induction before commencing knife work.
22. Proficient in using relevant tools and supporting training and development initiatives.
23. Meet physical demands of the role and demonstrate competence in required profiles, including Food Hygiene Level 3, HACCP Level 3, and others listed.
