GLL is seeking an experienced Pay and Pensions Officer to join our Pay and Pensions team working closely with the local Belfast People (HR) Team on a part time 20-hour contract. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-driven professional to play a key role in ensuring the smooth delivery of payroll and pensions services to our staff.

As a Pay and Pensions Officer, you will be responsible for the accurate processing of monthly payroll data, administering the NILGOSC pension scheme, and supporting colleagues with pay and pension queries, in addition supporting and taking responsibility for other pension schemes and pay items across GLL as necessary. You'll also ensure compliance with statutory regulations and internal policies, while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and accuracy.

Working closely with the national Pay and Pensions Team, the Pay and Pensions Officer will contribute to process improvements and share best practice to ensure consistent, high-quality service across the organisation. This dual role offers both local responsibility within Belfast and the opportunity to collaborate on a national scale.

The successful Pay and Pensions Officer will have proven experience in payroll processing and pension administration, strong numerical and IT skills, and the ability to manage deadlines effectively. Excellent communication and customer service skills will also be key in supporting staff and liaising with external providers.

What you'll do:

* Responsible for administering GLL policies, procedures, contractual terms and conditions related to pay and employee benefits in Belfast.
* To manage and maintain all computerised Belfast employee and worker data, in line with GDPR regulations
* Accurate data input relating to employee lifecycle where necessary
* Action all monthly pension data submissions, including leavers forms on the allocated schemes
* Compliance of NLW, RLW regulations as appropriate
* Action employee, manager and provider queries and ensure response times are adhered to
* Carry out manual calculations that are required as part of your role, such as overtime payments, gross to net, advance payments, statutory payments, starter and leaver payments
* Monitors relevant mailboxes, answering queries and escalating complex queries
* Ensure compliance with current statutory regulations; keep up to date with legislative changes. such as statutory benefits payments, tax, national insurance National Minimum wage, working time directive, right to work, GDPR
* General Payroll Administration
* Support the Regional Leadership Team with General Administration

What you'll need:

Essential criteria:

* Pay and Pensions qualification (L3+) or willingness to work towards
* Previous experience working in payroll and/or pension's officer role
* Experience working to UK Payroll Regulations
* Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to manage own workload and achieve tight deadlines
* Meticulous attention to detail/organisational skills
* A team player with strong interpersonal skills

Desirable criteria:

* Ideally you will have experience of the Northern Ireland Local Government Pension Scheme (NILGOSC)
* Knowledge of UK pension processes and legislation
* Previous experience with TUPE transfers and a wide range of allowances
* Excellent IT/Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and administration skills
* Excellent literacy and Numeracy skills
* Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
* Strong knowledge of GDPR

The Foundation:

* This is a part time permanent position. Hours of work will be negotiated with you in line with the needs of the service; flexible working may be possible. Working from home is not possible in this role.
