Overview
British Sign Language/ English Interpreter role at NHS Scotland. This in-house position is part of the Interpretation & Translation Service (I&T) within NHS Tayside, supporting a range of clinical settings.
Responsibilities
* Interpreting at patient appointments across NHST/HSCP settings
* Managing distribution of appointments across the team
* Working both as an autonomous practitioner and co-working with peers
* Preparatory briefs, debriefs and reflective practice
* Collaborating with I&TS, NHST and HSCP colleagues to enhance the service
* Contributing to NHST’s BSL Local Plan
* Engagement events with the local d/Deaf community and partnerships
* Covering an Out of Hours rota
* Delivery of Interpreter Awareness sessions
* Maintaining professional accreditation
* Reporting to an experienced sign language interpreter (Team Lead)

Qualifications
* Experience in BSL/English interpreting (mental health and/or medical desirable)
* Registration with the Scottish Register of Language Professionals with the Deaf Community (SRLPDC) or NRCPD
* Ability to travel around Tayside
About the Team and Role Context
The I&T Service provides BSL interpretation across Tayside supporting Acute Services, Health & Social Care Partnerships (HSCP), Primary Care, and Independent Contractors. You will work with the Team Lead and other BSL/Spoken Language interpreters to deliver services to patients, carers and their families in Tayside. NHS Tayside aims to enable people to live longer, healthier lives and transform health and care in Tayside for the d/Deaf population.

* Post 1: Permanent – Full time
* Post 2: Permanent - 30 hours
* Post 3: Fixed Term/Secondment for 9 months – 22.5 hours
