Furniture Technician
Location: Kettering, Northamptonshire
Salary: Up to £25,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (full time)
About the Role
We’re looking for a Furniture Flammability Technician to join our established and growing Furniture Flammability department. This is a hands-on laboratory role, ideal for someone who enjoys practical testing work, working to standards, and being part of a highly skilled technical team.
The clients Furniture Flammability department is recognised internationally as a centre of excellence for furniture testing, training, consultancy and innovation. We work with suppliers, manufacturers and retailers worldwide, helping to ensure furniture products are safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you’ll be responsible for carrying out flammability testing on furniture and related products in line with UK, European and international standards. Your key duties will include:
Preparing and conditioning test samples
Conducting flammability testing to British, European and international standards
Planning and agreeing testing schedules to meet customer deadlines
Maintaining clean, safe and organised laboratory areas
Accurately recording results and following documented proceduresWe’re looking for someone who is organised, reliable and detail-focused, with a positive and proactive approach to work.
Essential requirements:
GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Science – minimum Grade C / Grade 5
Good written and verbal communication skills
Confident using Microsoft Word and Excel
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely
Ability to work to deadlines and manage your time effectively
Well-organised with good planning and scheduling skills
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
