Position: CRED Supervisor
Location: HMP Albany, 55 Parkhurst Rd, Newport, IOW. PO30 5RS
Salary: £36,066.96 per annum
Contract: Full time - Permanent - 39hrs per week - Mon-Fri
We are seeking a dedicated Cred Supervisor to join our team at HMP Albany, a Category B adult male prison. Join a team that works Monday to Friday as a supportive and driven family, working together to create a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a CRED Supervisor you will:
1. Provide mentorship and support to staff, helping them achieve objectives and overcome challenges.
2. Advocate for fair treatment and opportunity for all prisoners, building and implementing projects that support prisoner rehabilitation via maintenance work.
3. Encourage and empower selected prisoners to undertake maintenance work that benefits their environment.
4. Collaborate with a diverse team of professionals (plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, cleaners, administrators) to maintain a safe and secure prison estate.
Qualifications & Experience
* Understanding of prisons and the prisoner working systems, or a willingness to learn (Desirable).
* Understanding of how to use tools and equipment to complete small scale refurbishments (Essential).
* Knowledge of working safely and putting health and safety principles into practice (Essential).
* Experience in managing small scale refurbishments and projects (Essential).
* Experience of supervising staff (Essential).
* Self‑motivated with a positive “can do” approach to work (Desirable).
* Experience managing relationships with various stakeholders (Desirable).Trade or building qualification such as carpentry, painting and decorating, plumbing or electrics (Desirable).
* If you don't hold a trade or building qualification, demonstrable experience is essential.
