Overview
Our client is a well-established and close-knit accountancy firm with over 10 years of experience, located in the heart of the city of Manchester. The firm services a diverse client base across sectors including charities, construction, engineering, manufacturing, digital, and professional services, working primarily with SMEs and owner-managed businesses. The firm is regulated for both accounting and audit services and is known for its consistent, timely reporting and commitment to high professional standards.
Successful candidates will be nearly qualified, newly qualified, or recently qualified Senior Accountant who will join a small, dynamic team of 8, comprising 1 director, 2 co-directors, and 5 staff (including a trainee, payroll specialist, and a QBE senior). This role is crucial for supporting the wider business across a portfolio of SME clients, charities, construction firms, engineers, and IT contractors. Candidates will be working primarily on year-end accounts preparation and personal tax returns, with approximately 10% audit exposure across a portfolio of 15 audits. The firm mostly works under FRS 105, with some FRS 102. Candidates will be trusted with responsibility and client interaction from the outset, and you\'ll play a key role in mentoring juniors and trainees.
Responsibilities
* Manage a varied client portfolio, including SMEs, charities, construction, engineering, and IT contractors
* Year-end accounts preparation
* Personal tax returns
* Approximately 10% audit work across 15 audits
* Work mostly with FRS 105 clients, with some FRS 102
* Involvement in all areas of the business with a strong emphasis on training and CPD
* Opportunities to mentor junior team members and trainees
Qualifications
* ACA / ACCA nearly qualified, newly qualified, or qualified with 1-3 years in a similar position
* Practice experience essential, ideally within small to medium-sized firms
* Experience of Accounts Preparation, Personal Tax and Audit
* IRIS experience is essential
* Desire for long-term progression into leadership and potential co-ownership
Salary & Benefits
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 (potentially up to £48,000 for strong candidates)
Working hours: 8:45am - 5:00pm with 1-hour lunch OR 9:00am - 5:00pm with 45-minute lunch

Progression to co-owner (with equity) within 5-7 years
