Location: Commutable to Preston (3 days in office per week)
Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 (depending on experience)
Working Hours: 40 hours per week (flexible between 7:00am - 6:30pm)

The Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer (mid to senior level) to join our growing team. You will be working on a range of projects within the water and wastewater sector, supporting key clients including Welsh Water, United Utilities, and Yorkshire Water.
Key Responsibilities
Produce high-quality mechanical design drawings in line with project guidelines (AMP8 and beyond)
Develop design documentation including P&IDs, piping layouts, and technical specifications
Carry out design calculations such as stress analysis where required
Participate in HAZOP studies and contribute to project safety and compliance
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, site engineers, and internal stakeholders
Liaise with clients to gather and clarify project requirements
Support design leads with site surveys when necessary (occasional travel required)
About You
Proven experience in mechanical design engineering
Strong background in the water or wastewater industry (essential)
Experience working for a design & build contractor (Tier 1 preferred)
Proficient in AutoCAD
Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders
A proactive, self-starting approach with strong problem-solving skills
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
