Job Title: HGV Class 2 Refuse / Recycling Driver
Location: RG24 Basingstoke
Shift: Monday to Friday, 06:00 – 14:30
Contract Type: Temporary / Ongoing with a chance to go permanent
Salary: £16.83
Role Overview
We are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver to support refuse and recycling collections in line with contract requirements. This role involves operating collection vehicles, completing designated routes, and working as part of a team to maintain high service standards within the community.
Key Responsibilities
1. Carry out scheduled and reactive refuse and recycling collections
2. Operate vehicles and associated machinery safely and efficiently
3. Complete daily routes in line with schedules and agreed procedures
4. Adapt routes to accommodate traffic, road closures, weather, and operational changes
5. Use in-cab technology/mobile devices to record work in real time
6. Perform daily vehicle and equipment checks, reporting any defects
7. Maintain cleanliness of vehicles and machinery
8. Ensure all waste is safely transported and disposed of at designated sites
9. Complete all required documentation, including weighbridge tickets and waste transfer notes
10. Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices
11. Work collaboratively with colleagues and communicate effectively with supervisors
12. Provide excellent customer service when interacting with the public
13. Maintain a professional and presentable appearance at all times
Requirements
14. Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
15. Driver CPC qualification
16. Digital Tachograph Card
17. Maximum of 6 penalty points (no major endorsements)
18. Driver Licence Check Code required
19. Previous experience in refuse/recycling or similar role desirable (minimum 6 months preferred)
