Unipart Construction Technologies (UCT) based in Sheffield are specialists in designing and manufacturing transformative and sustainable technologies for the construction industry.
We are seeking an experienced Principal Structural Engineer to join our growing team. The candidate will be responsible for designing a range of precast and insitu concrete solutions utilising our innovative laser cut reinforcing technology. As a Principal Structural Engineer you will be technically responsible for reinforcement technology innovation, development and validation for a range of applications in all sectors of the construction industry.
Reporting to the General Manager, this role will be responsible for:
Acting as technical lead on projects large and small.
Liaising with and leading other members of the design team to achieve a coordinated design solution that meets the Clients objectives.
Undertaking analysis and design using a range of software packages and from first principles
Ensuring that quality and consistency of technical output (drawings, reports etc.) is maintained.
Preparing high quality technical reports and calculations to support internal and external sign-off
Liaise and work with the internal team of other mechanical/structural engineers and contract/business managers, and external parties such as experimental testing facilities and Universities.
Developing own knowledge and ability.. Continuous improvement activities to support business growth
Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to continuously improve design practices and enhance construction efficiency.
Keeping senior management up to date on project status and progress.
The successful candidate will be qualified to MEng degree (or BEng and Masters) in Civil/Structural engineering and be a Chartered Structural Engineer with ICE or IStructE (or actively working towards accreditation). Candidates must also be able to demonstrate the following;
Proficient in the use of 3D CAD systems (Siemens NX, Autodesk Suite or similar).
A high degree of initiative and strong problem-solving capability.
Demonstrable practical manufacturing or assembly experience.
The ability to work independently and contribute effectively as a member of a high-performance team.
Attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
