AIMS Project Support Officer (Fixed Term)
Location: Dumfries
Salary: £26,766 - £28,419
We are recruiting for a Project Support Officer (PSO) to join the AIMS Project team based at Dumfries and Galloway College, Crichton Campus.
As a Project Support Officer, your office-based and front-line role will be pivotal in assisting the delivery of the AIMS Project through key administrative tasks.
Individuals are sought who:
1. Excel in maintaining a range of project information, including financial data, for ease of retrieval and evaluation.
2. Are methodical in handling project enquiries and engaging with clients.
3. Can take the initiative with effective communication to ensure timely data collection and reporting.
4. Enjoy sharing relevant information via social media to promote the work of the AIMS Project and related Employability Programmes.
You will work in a small team within innovative facilities equipped with state-of-the-art technology, providing hands-on experience and skills. You will manage contact with staff across the service to help registered clients progress in their skills journey, as well as individuals from local businesses.
About the AIMS Project
Advancing Innovative Manufacturing in the South of Scotland (AIMS) supports both businesses and individuals in Dumfries and Galloway. Driven by Industry 4.0, the project focuses on the automation of manufacturing and industrial practices using modern technology.
The team provides research and development, reverse engineering, additive manufacturing (including 3D printing, scanning, probing), subtractive manufacturing (CNC milling, turning, SolidCam), fabrication, robotic automation, and computer science. AIMS technicians deliver practical, skills-based training and courses tailored to various needs, from introductory sessions to bespoke training for businesses, utilizing advanced equipment and expertise to boost the local economy.
Additional Information
Business Support: AIMS helps businesses innovate, develop, and introduce new products and services, offering support in prototyping, product development, and process improvement. The technical team provides training on the latest engineering technologies, including CNC machining, 3D printing, robotics, and automation.
Individual Skill Seekers: AIMS offers courses to upskill both businesses and individuals, working with adults and young people aged 19+, including school leavers, job seekers, students, sole traders, and entrepreneurs. The project aims to inspire and motivate participants to acquire new skills and qualifications, supporting their career development. Collaboration with the Dumfries and Galloway Local Employability and Skills Partnership allows for signposting to additional support services.
Requirements: A current driving licence is essential. Consideration will be given to applicants with disabilities that prevent holding a licence if alternative transport arrangements can be made.
This is a fixed-term position until March 2026 and may be suitable for secondment, subject to line manager approval.
