A number of mainstream primary schools with dedicated Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) Resource Bases are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a skilled and supportive team.
The ASC base is staffed by a specialist SEND teacher and three highly trained teaching assistants. With a low pupil-to-adult ratio, they are committed to providing personalised support that helps each child reach their full potential.
Some of the schools are accessible via public transport, while others may require access to a car. You will be placed in a school that fits your strengths and preferences, and we will support you every step of the way.
About the Role
-As an HLTA in an ASC resource base, you will:
-Work closely under the guidance of the base lead teacher
-Provide tailored support for pupils with Autism in 1:1 and small group settings
-Assist in planning, preparing and delivering engaging learning activities
-Model effective teaching and behaviour management strategies
-Support the professional development of less experienced TAs through a coaching and mentoring approach
Essential Skills and Experience
-HLTA qualification or relevant experience
-Excellent spoken and written English
-Experience working with children with Autism, SEN, SEMH, or complex needs
-Right to work in the UK (valid visa where applicable)
-At least one recent child-based reference and up-to-date DBS/police check
Desirable Attributes
-Previous experience supporting children with SEND/SEMH needs
-Relevant SEND or education-related qualifications
-Experience in mentoring or coaching within an educational setting

The pay rate starts at £100 a day including holiday pay and will increase depending on experience.
Pay: Five Education operates a PAYE payroll; this is the most transparent way to be paid with no hidden fees such as admin fee or employers NI. Please note pay rate is for illustration and does include holiday pay.
DBS: If you do not have a non-voluntary enhanced DBS on the update service, we will need to process a new one at a cost of £62.70. This will be refunded after 20 days of work, providing you have put the new DBS on the update service.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo checks including reference checks, TRA checks and will need to have a DBS; there will also be a face-to-face interview.
