Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a speech and language therapy assistant to join our Children's Therapy Service working in our Chorley South Ribble team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and forward‑thinking assistant, who already has experience of working with children with communication difficulties and is looking for their next challenge.
Responsibilities
 * Deliver therapy programmes as directed by the therapist to children with additional and complex needs.
 * Work with children, education staff and families in community settings including schools, clinics, nurseries and children’s homes.
 * Provide clinical and management supervision, specialist support, continuing professional development and take part in specialist SLT forums.
 * Travel between different venues across the Chorley and South Ribble area, maintaining communication with multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
 * NVQ 3 in related health/education/care area or equivalent knowledge and experience.
 * Good general education including GCSE in English Language or equivalent.
 * Sound working knowledge of key issues in Additional and Complex Needs, professional confidentiality and a wide range of therapy techniques.
 * Extensive experience working with children with additional and complex needs in a therapeutic environment.
 * Skill to deliver formal and informal training to carers.
 * Self‑motivated, able to work under supervision and independently, and able to adapt intervention approaches to children’s needs.
