A Vacancy at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Langtree Ward is a busy, fast‑paced, acute surgical ward. We are looking to recruit a full‑ or part‑time Health Care Support Worker with experience in the hospital setting.
This role is 37.5 hours per week and involves working a shift pattern across 7 days, Monday – Sunday, including days and nights.
The Healthcare Support Worker will work as part of the ward team with supervision of registered practitioners to provide effective, safe patient‑focused care at all times.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist patients with personal hygiene and other basic activities of daily living.
* Assist patients during meal times and help with the ingestion and monitoring of food and fluids.
* Talk and listen to patients, providing emotional support and building trust.
* Work in partnership with patients, carers and the wider team to promote a positive care environment.
* Provide direct care to the defined group of patients under the direction of the registered nurse.
* Assist patients to undertake normal activities of daily living.
* Follow care plans developed by the registered nurse.
* Report any changes in patient condition, untoward incidents, or accidents to the senior nurse immediately.
* Assist with the maintenance of ward cleanliness.
* Assist in maintaining stock levels.
* Assist with the transportation of patients, equipment, and supplies.
