You will be joining a high-profile and well-established Civil Engineering Contractor with a proven track record of delivering complex and vital infrastructure projects within the water, highways, and heavy civil sectors. With a very good reputation in the market, they work on projects across the Northwest region and offer a strong pipeline of work for AMP8 as well as excellent opportunities for career progression. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking a Pre-Construction Planner.
Your new role:
As a Civils Planner, you will play a crucial role in the initial stages of their construction projects, focusing on the planning and programming of civil projects. Reporting to the Pre-Construction Director, you will lead the planning and programming within the pre-construction team to improve their chances of winning contracts and establish project controls from the tender stage. This includes developing fully compliant, resource-optimized, and risk-managed tender programmes to ensure competitive, high-value submissions. You'll work closely with Preconstruction, Project Teams, and clients to manage a diverse pipeline of civil engineering projects valued between £1m-£30m within the Northwest.
* Lead tender planning/programming to support winning bids and set up project controls.
* Develop 4-6 NEC4-compliant, resourced tender programmes monthly.
* Collaborate with estimators and bid teams to create competitive offers.
* Define Work Breakdown Structures aligned with client and internal standards.
* Present programmes to senior leadership and contribute to tender strategies.
* Produce quality written narratives supporting tender submissions.
* Review and improve programmes based on operational feedback and lessons learned post-tender and post-contract.
What you need to succeed:
* Degree, Industry Qualification, or HND
* Previous experience working as a planner, ideally 5 years in a civil engineering environment
* Knowledge of highways, structures, and public realm works
* IT skills
* Understanding of NEC contracts
