Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our busy kitchen team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen by maintaining cleanliness, assisting with food preparation, and supporting our chefs and kitchen staff.
This position is 30-40 hours per week between 9am - 5:30pm 5 days from 7.
This position is seasonal with the potential to become permanent.
Responsibilities:
* Maintain Cleanliness: Ensure all kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas are clean and sanitized.
* Dishwashing: Operate dishwashing machines and wash dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment manually when needed.
* Food Preparation: Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
* Waste Disposal: Properly dispose of waste and maintain cleanliness in waste disposal areas.
* Stock Management: Unload deliveries, organise storage areas, and ensure food supplies are stored correctly.
* Health & Safety: Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
* Support: Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and report any maintenance or repair issues to management.
* Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Chef or kitchen management.
Requirements:
* Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not essential.
* Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
* Ability to work well under pressure in a busy kitchen.
* Strong communication.
* Willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs.
* Flexibility to work daytime shifts, including weekends.
