Primary Care Network Pharmacy Technician

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Clinical Pharmacy within General Practice Primary Care Networks (PCNs). We are recruiting for a Full Time Band 5 PCN Pharmacy Technician to work in Welwyn Garden City PCN for a 9-month maternity leave cover. Join a team comprising clinical pharmacists and pharmacy technicians dedicated to supporting safe and effective medication management, prescribing, and monitoring to enhance personalized patient care and meet national and local targets.
In line with the NHS Long Term Plan and the primary care network directed enhanced service contract by NHS England, Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust provides clinical pharmacy services to PCNs locally. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in the expanding primary care sector, part of a transformative programme to develop new models of care while benefiting from NHS employment support, training, and familiar team dynamics.

Main duties of the job
The Technician will assist patients in optimizing their medication use through clinical reviews and medicines management, collaborating with primary care clinicians and stakeholders. As part of a pioneering team alongside clinical pharmacists, these pharmacy technicians will support GP surgeries and PCN multidisciplinary teams, enhancing care quality and contributing to health initiatives.
We seek highly motivated, forward-thinking, experienced, and personable Pharmacy Technicians eager to develop their careers and support primary care. You should possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, promoting medicines optimization principles aligned with local and national objectives.
Primary care experience is advantageous but not essential; a background in medicines management is beneficial. The role includes comprehensive training tailored to your needs.

This role attracts a High-Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary, in accordance with Agenda for Change.

Person Specification
Education Qualifications
* Professional registration with GPhC
* BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences
* Good clinical knowledge of drugs and therapeutics
* Knowledge of administrative procedures and data analysis
* Understanding of project management principles
* Knowledge of primary care structures and NHS environment
Experience
* Continued professional development (CPD)
* At least 3 years of experience as a qualified, registered pharmacy technician in primary care, community, or hospital pharmacy
* Experience in clinical settings and multidisciplinary working
* Experience in training, supervising, and educating staff and healthcare professionals
* Knowledge of evidence-based medicine and current clinical/regulatory information sources
* Experience working in secondary and community pharmacy
* Experience collaborating with GPs
* Familiarity with epact.net, PACT data, and prescribing data management
* Project management and audit experience

Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 per annum (pro rata)
