Job Description
A highly regarded regional law firm is seeking a Solicitor to join its Agriculture & Rural Affairs team based in Worcester. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with either agricultural law experience or a background in commercial property who is keen to specialise in agricultural property work. The role offers the chance to develop expertise within a supportive, well-established and award-winning department.
The Team
The successful agricultural solicitor will work alongside an experienced Partner and a team of fee earners and support staff within the Worcester office, while collaborating with colleagues across multiple regional locations. The team has an excellent reputation and long-standing client relationships within the agricultural and rural sector.
The Role
This position involves managing a varied caseload of agricultural and rural affairs matters, with appropriate supervision where required. You will advise clients on a broad range of agricultural property issues, rural land matters and development projects, while contributing to the continued growth of the team.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing a diverse caseload of agricultural and rural matters
* Advising on agricultural property transactions, including sales, purchases, leases, licences and easements
* Acting for landowners on development matters such as option agreements and overage arrangements
* Handling agricultural tenancies, including AHA and Farm Business Tenancies
* Advising on rural land development and diversification projects
* Providing guidance on rights of way, boundaries, covenants and wayleaves
* Supporting succession planning and estate matters alongside specialist teams
Client Care & Business Development
* Maintaining strong client relationships and high service standards
* Attending client meetings, site visits and industry events
* Supporting business development and networking initiatives
* Ensuring accurate time recording and billing
* Demonstrating a proactive and team-focused approach
Compliance & Quality
* Working in line with regulatory standards and internal policies
* Ensuring compliance with AML, GDPR and file management procedures
* Participating in supervision, training and file audits
Requirements
* Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales
* Experience in, or a strong interest in, agricultural law or commercial property
* Strong drafting, negotiation and communication skills
Desirable
* Experience with agricultural land transactions or commercial property matters
* Knowledge of agricultural tenancies, including AHA and Farm Business Tenancies
* Understanding of rural estates, succession planning, or renewable projects
* Familiarity with development agreements such as option and overage agreements
* A practical, commercial approach to client advice
* A collaborative mindset and willingness to engage in team activities
