The Role
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced senior designer or architect to step into a senior role within a high-performing D&B studio. The successful candidate will take ownership of the architectural design process across a portfolio of complex, architecture-biased projects, bridging the gap between creative vision and built reality, and ensuring design excellence is upheld through every stage of delivery.
The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable developing bold design concepts and navigating the technical and commercial demands of the Design & Build procurement route.
Key Responsibilities
Lead architectural design across a portfolio of complex D&B projects from RIBA Stage 1 through to Stage 6
Act as the primary design lead, managing design and coordinating across project teams
Develop and communicate compelling design narratives
Work closely with the commercial and construction teams to ensure design solutions are buildable, commercially viable
About You
Essential
A minimum of 5 years experience in an architectural design role at senior level
Strong, demonstrable portfolio of architecturally led projects
Ability to manage and coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams across all RIBA stages
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite
Commercially aware, with an understanding of cost planning, value engineering, and programme management
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging clients, planning authorities, and senior stakeholders
A genuine commitment to architectural quality and design excellence within a delivery-focused environment
Desirable
ARB registration would be advantageous but not essential
Prior experience in a Design & Build or contractor-side environment — highly advantageous but not essential
Experience working across large complex commercial office projects
Familiarity with NEC or JCT design & build contract forms
Experience leading planning applications and managing pre-application engagement
