A well-regarded public sector organisation in South Wales is looking to appoint a Senior Childcare Lawyer to join its established Community Services legal team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced childcare solicitor to undertake high-quality, meaningful work advising on complex safeguarding matters, while working as part of a collaborative and highly respected legal team.
The role will involve managing a varied caseload of children’s public law matters, including care proceedings, child protection, adoption, fostering and related education work, as well as providing legal advice on sensitive and time-critical issues.
Responsibilities will include:
Managing a complex caseload of childcare and safeguarding matters Advising on care proceedings, adoption, fostering and related public law matters Providing legal advice to internal stakeholders on high-risk and sensitive issues Conducting advocacy and/or instructing Counsel where appropriate Supporting safeguarding decision-making and risk management Contributing to strong governance and effective legal service delivery The ideal candidate will have:
Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX with current practising certificate Strong experience in children’s public law and care proceedings Experience managing complex and contested matters Advocacy experience or experience instructing Counsel Excellent drafting, advisory and communication skills Ability to manage urgent matters with sound judgement and composure The opportunity offers:
