Our client is a leading name in several fields of manufacturing, with a major European and UK presence spanning numerous operational plants. Due to a pending retirement, they are presently seeking a Facilities Operative to be part of HSE and site operations at one of their key manufacturing sites in Accrington.
Overview
Provide 24/7 coverage for the site working as part of a team, which also includes first aid. In addition to providing a polite and professional greeting to all visitors to the site, providing accurate H&S information as required, in line with the Company Rules. Communicating and liaising with all relevant Departments to co‑ordinate visitors, contractors, deliveries, collections and any associated paperwork. Work as part of the wider team to assist, improve and maintain the site.
Essential duties and responsibilities
* Demonstrate a commitment to safety and be a willing & active participant in all relevant company safety, health & environmental campaigns & initiatives.
* Working as part of a team to ensure and maintain 24/7 Security for the site. This will require flexibility, working a share of the overtime to cover colleagues absences.
* Following and implementing emergency protocols as required.
* Ensuring lone working guidelines are adhered to.
* Ensuring the site is secure by locking external doors / gates.
* Completing regular walk‑arounds internally & externally.
* Providing first aid as required and completing the appropriate paperwork.
* Taking phone calls, messages and providing information as appropriate.
* Initial site contact for visitors, drivers & booking in.
* Booking drivers in/out & explaining site H&S rules.
* Co‑ordinating with Despatch Departments and Internal Sales team for moving drivers/vehicles on/off bays and issuing paperwork.
* Supplying goods in paperwork to Purchasing team.
* Responsible for issuing PPE, ensuring stock levels are maintained and completing the PPE record log.
* Maintaining sufficient stock levels of various items.
* As weather dictates, gritting allocated areas and snow clearing; booking contractors to assist.
* Completing general cleaning and low‑level maintenance duties to keep the site tidy (sweeping, pressure washing, mowing, strimming, leaf blowing, cleaning, painting).
* Carrying out inspections of various equipment, documenting the results and switching on equipment to suit shift patterns.
Skills & Knowledge required
* First aid.
* Good organizational and communication skills.
* Can‑do attitude and approach.
* FLT Licence preferred.
* Experience of a manufacturing site preferred.
