This post offers an exciting opportunity to support young people and their families in improving mental wellbeing and educational outcomes. Renfrewshire’s Family Wellbeing service provides a range of innovative supports to children, young people, and their families.
Working as part of the school’s team within the Family Wellbeing service, following the “Team around the child” framework in conjunction with the Senior Family Wellbeing Worker. Family Wellbeing workers offer integrated support based on the principles of Getting It Right for Every Child.
The service also supports the delivery of evidence-informed interventions including Non-Violent Resistance, Sleep Scotland, and Seasons for Growth. This role challenges suitably experienced staff committed to enhancing the wellbeing and educational outcomes of Renfrewshire’s most vulnerable young people.
You will benefit from professional development through a wide range of training and supervision. It is essential that you have experience working in a support role with children, young people, and families in school or community settings.
Knowledge of issues facing disadvantaged young people and their families, along with effective interpersonal and communication skills, are crucial. You must be genuinely committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and families, nonjudgmental, highly motivated, enthusiastic, positive, resilient, tactful, and insightful.
While qualifications are not essential, it is desirable to possess a qualification such as SVQ level 3 or equivalent in a related discipline, e.g., Social Care, Childcare, and Education.
Experience working with parents, including those facing stressful circumstances such as poverty or health issues, interagency liaison experience, and knowledge of Curriculum for Excellence and GIRFEC are also desirable.
Please note that this post is temporary, subject to business needs and funding, for 18 months or until the requirement ceases, whichever comes first. Successful applicants will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, with the level of check determined by the duties of the role.
