Partnership Recruiting are looking for an experienced HSEQ Advisor who has experience within a manufacturing / heavy-industry environment. This role is a newly created vacancy for our client’s facility in East Lothian where you will play a key part in shaping, driving and embedding robust SHEQ standards across a busy operational site.
Role Overview
You’ll play a key role in keeping the site safe and running smoothly by putting strong SHEQ standards into practice and helping drive ongoing improvements. You’ll stay up to date with the latest Health & Safety legislation and industry changes, offering clear guidance to the site management team. You’ll also take the lead in shaping, updating, and improving all SHEQ policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
* Proactively engage, challenge, and influence colleagues to deliver SHEQ compliance and drive continuous improvement.
* Ensure the site risk profile is accurately documented through suitable risk assessments and develop/implement action plans aligned with the hierarchy of controls.
* Deliver an effective SHEQ onboarding programme for employees, contractors, and visitors.
* Train and coach the site team so all colleagues can confidently contribute to, lead, and manage SHEQ in their areas.
* Regularly review SHEQ documentation to ensure alignment with legislation and operational needs.
* Increase awareness across all teams.
* Collaborate with the wider group to influence the SHEQ agenda and support a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
* Ensure adequate H&S controls are included in design specifications for equipment upgrades and installations.
* Ensure all activities have robust and up-to-date risk assessments, supported by appropriate training.
* Assess workplace hazards and work with management to eliminate or reduce risks through appropriate preventative measures.
* Conduct regular site inspections to verify that policies and procedures are being effectively implemented.
* Lead random safety audits, analyse findings, report outcomes and drive follow-up actions.
* Liaise with relevant regulators, supporting site audits and inspections.
* Ensure all incidents and near-misses are reported, investigated, and addressed in a timely manner.
Desired Qualifications & Experience

* Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence and instruct.
* Capable of delivering training and presentations to groups.
* A natural promoter of a ‘safety-first’ culture with a continuous improvement mindset.
* BSc (Hons) in Occupational Health & Safety, NEBOSH Diploma, or equivalent.
* Minimum of 3 years’ H&S experience within manufacturing - ideally heavy industry.
* Knowledge of ISO 45001 standards within a heavy production environment (ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 advantageous).
* Full clean driving licence.
* Broad experience in H&S, including policy maintenance, risk assessment, training, auditing, inspection, incident management, and reporting
