What Does a Foster Carer Do?
Foster carers provide a stable, caring home for children and young people who are unable to live with their birth families. This can be short-term, long-term, emergency, or respite care — and you choose what suits your lifestyle.
You'll be more than just a carer — you'll be a role model, a mentor, and sometimes, a life-changer.
Who Can Foster?
You don't need to be married, own your home, or have children of your own. What matters is your ability to provide a loving and secure environment. You'll need to:
* Be at least 21 years old
* Have a spare bedroom
* Be a UK resident or have indefinite leave to remain
* Be willing to undergo background checks, including an enhanced DBS check, a health assessment, and a home study assessment
* Commit to ongoing training and support
