Procurement Officer
6 Month FTC | Southend | Immediate Start
£40,000 – £45,000
An opportunity has arisen for a proactive Procurement professional to join a well-established organisation on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract. This role will play a key part in delivering cost-effective, commercially sound supplier arrangements, with a focus on day-to-day procurement activity, contract optimisation, and driving value through supplier engagement.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and review existing supplier contracts, identifying opportunities to improve cost, service levels, and commercial terms
* Support procurement activity across a range of spend areas, ensuring compliance and value for money
* Lead and coordinate lower value tenders, RFQs, and supplier renegotiations
* Monitor supplier performance, escalating risks and identifying improvement opportunities
* Conduct market research to benchmark pricing and identify alternative suppliers
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and support operational delivery
* Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and supplier data
* Contribute to cost‑saving initiatives and broader commercial improvement projects
About You
* Experience within procurement, purchasing, or a commercial support environment
* Confident in supplier negotiation and relationship management
* Comfortable reviewing contracts and identifying opportunities for improvement
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and market insights
* Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
* Commercially focused, with a proactive and solutions‑driven approach
