Job Description
The Company
Scindo is a full-stack enzyme engineering company involved in the discovery, characterization, engineering, and commercialization of innovative enzymes. We work on highly novel and unique enzyme systems that enable cell-free and co-factor-free carbon-chain functionalizations, unlocking sustainable feedstocks for a broad range of industries. We deploy cutting-edge AI-guided enzyme design to create novel functionalities and industrially viable biocatalysts.
The Role
Scindo is seeking a highly driven and talented organic chemist to contribute to the development of novel catalysts at our lab in central London. The position involves designing novel synthesis routes for bioactive chemicals, providing technical expertise on reaction optimization, and characterizing novel compounds.
The ideal candidate will have an exceptional academic background in organic chemistry and/or relevant chemical catalysis/total synthesis, with strong data analytics skills and experience in routine analysis techniques such as NMR, LC-MS, and HPLC. Previous experience in team and project management is also required.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Developing new synthesis routes for bioactive molecules
2. Optimizing reaction and purification processes
3. Collaborating with process engineers to implement scalable manufacturing processes for new products
4. Characterizing novel organic compounds to determine structure, composition, and physical & chemical properties
5. Supervising and advising junior team members in techniques related to synthesis, characterization, and reaction optimization
6. Contributing to green chemistry initiatives and safety protocols
If you are a highly driven problem solver with a passion for chemistry, we want to hear from you! Please apply with a cover letter.
