Key Responsibilities
* Communicate non-clinical verbal and written information precisely and effectively both internally and externally to patients, relatives, and carers, many of whom may have communication difficulties due to old age, hearing loss, pain, fear, or language/learning difficulties.
* Ensure information is communicated with relevant speed, accuracy, tact, understanding, and confidentiality.
* Work as part of a team and individually to provide high-quality referral services and provide cover when needed during staff absence or annual leave.
* Provide an effective, efficient, customer-friendly service to MPFT patients, their families, and carers.
* Appoint, cancel, and rearrange appointments using the Rio Referral system.
* Answer telephone enquiries from members of the public and other healthcare professionals.
* Process letters as appropriate in relation to booking.
* Provide support and advice, maintain communication channels, and liaise with clinical and other staff within the department.
* Manage the day-to-day running of clinics, ensuring they are used to capacity.
* Handle a varied workload with confidentiality, initiative, flexibility, and capacity to manage peaks in the work programme.
* Relate to a wide range of individuals on behalf of MPFT.
* Record accurate, confidential, and sensitive patient information.
* Be methodical and able to work under pressure.
