Senior Acoustics Consultant – Environment Team, AECOM
We are seeking a Senior Acoustics Consultant to join our Environment team at AECOM. You will demonstrate experience in resourcing and delivering complex environmental acoustics projects, working on commissions from small to multi‑disciplinary projects covering sound, noise and vibration (SNV) technical areas.
Responsibilities
* Provide Expertise: Understand the Environmental Impact Assessment process regarding SNV and undertake, oversee and technically review noise models using software such as CadnaA, SoundPLAN, CATT, Insul, EASE, SketchUp, etc.
* Lead Acoustics Input: Undertake predictions, assessments and write technical reports on a range of projects.
* Collaborate with Clients: Liaise with and advise clients on acoustics projects, proactively identify opportunities to cross‑sell services and assist in winning new work to contribute to team growth.
* Ensure Quality: Manage own workload, develop new lines of work, and provide on‑the‑job advice and instruction to junior staff to accelerate their technical skill development.
* Conduct site measurements and testing, perform data analysis and predictions, and use GIS software for data manipulation.
* Travel and work away from home for short periods across the UK and potentially overseas.
Qualifications
* First degree in acoustics or a relevant technical discipline (Physics, Maths, Engineering) – a postgraduate qualification such as a Masters is preferred.
* Membership of the Institute of Acoustics (MIOA/FIOA). Charter status or evidence of working towards it is desirable.
* Experience in acoustic modelling using CadnaA, SoundPLAN, or equivalent software.
* Ability to manipulate and analyse datasets in GIS software.
* Strong communication skills, capable of explaining acoustics to non‑technical audiences.
* Experience managing technical and financial aspects of projects.
Travel: UK (and occasional overseas visits). Flexibility to work away from home for short periods is required.
