This specialist school supports pupils with Autism, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Global Development Delay (GDD). Many pupils communicate non-verbally, making creativity, patience, and an understanding of sensory needs vital.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting pupils with sensory regulation and sensory-based activities
2. Providing personal care (toileting and hygiene routines)
3. Using music, rhythm, sound-making, and creative play to support communication
4. Assisting with individualised routines shaped by Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists, and therapeutic specialists
5. Helping create calm, structured, and emotionally safe learning environments
This role gives you invaluable pre-therapy experience, helping you build the interpersonal, creative, and sensory-regulation skills that universities look for in Music Therapy applications.
