We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused MHE Assessor & Trainer to lead the assessment, training, and compliance efforts for all material handling equipment operations within our facility. This role is critical for workforce competency, compliance, and developing a strong safety culture. The ideal candidate will be involved with our Connected Safety Net system and ensure pre-use check sheets are completed accurately and consistently.
Responsibilities
* Deliver hands-on and classroom-based training programs for new employees and existing staff on MHE use, warehouse operations, and safety protocols.
* Conduct internal assessments, risk management, and certifications for all MHE operators in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
* Monitor trainee progress, provide feedback, and maintain records to ensure continued operator competency.
* Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations during all training and assessment activities.
* Promote the use of Connected Safety Net for safety reporting, incident logging, and compliance tracking.
* Ensure daily pre-use check sheets are completed for all MHE and warehouse equipment and that records are logged and reviewed.
* Collaborate with site leadership to identify skills gaps and adjust training programs accordingly.
* Update the Skills Matrix for MHE Training and keep all documentation safe, accessible and well organized.
* Raise issues or improvements promptly to continuously improve processes.
* Assist the H&S Manager in implementing operational and MHE training policies and promoting a proactive safety culture.
* Regularly audit operational and MHE-related processes to ensure alignment with internal procedures and industry standards.
* Keep training materials up to date in line with evolving industry best practices and legal requirements.
* Coordinate with external contractors for equipment servicing and repairs; monitor maintenance records and service schedules; manage Purchase Orders for MHE repairs within budget constraints.
* Troubleshoot MHE issues and escalate when necessary to minimise equipment downtime.
What you need to bring
* Accredited MHE Assessor/Trainer (RTITB, ITSSAR, AITT, NPORS, or equivalent).
* Proven experience training and assessing MHE operators across multiple equipment types.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proactive, collaborative approach; able to be the face of MHE for Mayflex.
* High attention to detail and organizational skills for managing documentation and compliance.
* Experience with training matrix systems and internal auditing is highly desirable.
* Basic understanding of budget management and the financial impact of operational decisions.
* Computer literate with confidence using Microsoft Office applications.
* Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
* Certification in Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
* Previous experience in QHSE or warehouse supervisory roles.
* Familiarity with Connected Safety Net or similar digital safety/compliance platforms.
* Experience conducting or supporting internal audits (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001).
* Understanding of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective action processes.
* Demonstrated ability to contribute to or lead continuous improvement initiatives within the Mayflex Site or Logistics Operations.
* Competence in using digital tools or systems for tracking training, compliance, and maintenance records.
* Exposure to Lean, 5S, or Kaizen methodologies is an advantage.
* Must have a zero-accident mindset.
