Teacher of Biology
School: The Royal High School
Salary: £33,594 - £50,589
Hours: 35 per week
We are seeking an inspirational and passionate Biology Teacher to join the Science department at The Royal High School.
About the School
The Royal High School is one of Scotland's oldest schools, known for its rich history and commitment to innovation. It is a non-denominational, 6-year comprehensive school drawing students from four primary schools: Blackhall, Clermiston, Cramond, and Davidson's Mains.
The school was inspected by HMIE in December 2022. The Senior Leadership Team includes the Headteacher, four Depute Headteachers, and the Business Manager. The current teaching staff comprises 100 FTE teachers and 21 FTE support staff, including Pupil Support Assistants. The school features an integrated Support for Learning Team and enhanced support and wellbeing bases.
The school facilities, refurbished in 2004, are of a high standard, with extensive use outside school hours. It is designated a Community Sports Hub, with refurbished PE facilities (2015) and a vibrant extracurricular program. A new extension is opening in Easter 2024 to accommodate rising student numbers.

The school maintains positive relationships with parents, local businesses, and the community. The Parent Council, Fundraising Group, and Former Pupils' Club are actively involved in school life.

Salary and Conditions
Salaries are in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
Requirements
This role involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The successful candidate must join or update their PVG Scheme membership and may require an Overseas Criminal Record Check if applicable. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of these checks.
