CARPENTER, SITE SERVICES The Carpenter builds, installs and designs wood structures for safe and reliable site services operations. The Carpenters work collaboratively with the team to deliver execution of the integrated plan and schedule. Key Responsibilities Area 1: Build, install and design wood structures for safe and reliable site services operations. · Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine layout requirements. · Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed. · Cut, shape, smooth lumber and other material (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements. · Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items. · Lay out floorings, roofing or drywall ensuring they are installed correctly as per building code. · Fabricate and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelving, and other items and install them where designated. · Inspect places and conduct repairs or maintenance. · Build scaffolding and other construction structures. · Build signs, stairs, and decks. Install windows, doors, drywall, cladding, and sheathing where required. · Locate and repair issues. · Remove and replace worn components. · Operate equipment safely. · Ensure all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety standards. Keep accurate records of time spent working, description of work performed and materials used. Area 2: Operational excellence. · Commit to continuous learning and improvement. · Continually seek to improve your skills as a Carpenter. · Watch for inefficiencies or problems. · Ensure problems and inefficiencies are shared with others. · Work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve problems. · Consider risk among the five dimensions (throughput, time, quality, sustainability, and cost). · Coach, train and mentor skilled labour and apprentice employees when required. Area 3: Work collaboratively with others to deliver operational reliability. · Coordinate with other team members on site to meet shift deliverables. · Mentor and train new team members. · Participate in and lend your expertise to the team. · Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided. · Ensure equipment logs and shift logs are accurate and complete. · Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow up. · Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders. Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents · College diploma in carpentry or another related field. Certificate of Qualification in Ontario or Inter-provincial Red Seal is preferred. Completed apprenticeship is required. Work experience - Nature & Length · A minimum of 5 years of related work experience. Previous experience in remote camp site services is considered an asset. Additional qualifications - Competency requirements · Proficiency in computer applications and maintenance software. Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction. Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools. Ability to read technical drawings and documents. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to work independently and in team settings. Ability to work effectively under pressure.
