As a Delivery Manager, you will be a crucial member of the Engineering leadership team. You will hold full accountability for your portfolio, valued between £20-40 million annually, and will be responsible for the safe design and delivery of asset engineering programmes. This involves planning and leading multiple workstreams, managing third-party suppliers and stakeholders, and overseeing project managers and their teams.

You will ensure your programmes are delivered on time and within budget, while maintaining compliance with internal governance and utilising data-driven insights for informed decision-making. This role demands excellent programme management skills, commercial awareness, contract management experience, and the ability to lead and inspire diverse teams.

This is an exciting time to join our business as we are investing over £1.8 billion in our water network to build a sustainable future. This means we're growing and investing in talented people who can help us meet future demands and deliver excellent service to our customers and the wider community.

If you have a passion for engineering and project delivery and are looking to make a meaningful impact within a sector that is generating significant change, then this is an excellent opportunity.

Main Responsibilities:

* Plan and lead the safe design and delivery of a programme of works to agreed timescales and budget, ensuring adherence to all Company Health & Safety, Environmental, and other relevant policies.
* Be accountable for the performance of third-party suppliers and stakeholders, working collaboratively to deliver the programme of works.
* Manage the Project Managers and their teams who are supporting the delivery of the programme.
* Utilise evidential data to make objective decisions, considering all stakeholders, including the end customer.

You'll need:

* A degree qualification in Engineering, Project Management, or a similar relevant subject.
* Demonstrable experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams and programmes from initial concept through to successful delivery.
* Experience working at a senior management level within a client, consultancy, or contractor organisation.
* Proven experience of engineering delivery within the water industry or similar utilities sector, such as gas or energy.
* Excellent organisational and resource allocation skills.
* The ability to undertake recruitment responsibilities to ensure your teams are fully resourced with the necessary skills and knowledge for successful delivery.
* Strong people management skills, a collaborative team approach, and the ability to work effectively with peers and influence individuals not within your direct line management.
* Sound commercial and contract knowledge and acumen.
* A proven track record of managing budgets, schedules, and risks effectively.
* The ability to exercise sound engineering judgement and make well-informed decisions in complex situations.
* Excellent technical report writing and editorial skills, alongside strong oral communication abilities.

It will be a bonus if you have:

* Previous experience working with a Portfolio Management Office (PMO).
* NEC3/4 project manager accreditation.
* Chartered status within a relevant professional institution.
* Experience using contract management software (e.g., CEMAR or similar systems).
* Confidence in making decisions and effectively justifying the outcomes.
* Excellent influencing and communicating skills with stakeholders and suppliers to achieve successful outcomes.
* Experience in coaching and mentoring staff.
