Job Description

Job Title: Principal Electrical Design Engineering\nSalary: up to £60,000 per annum dependent upon experience\nLocation: Barrow in Furness, Bristol, Brough, Portsmouth, Weymouth, Frimley or Coventry\nWe currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Principal Electrical Design Engineer. The role can be based at any of the following sites: Barrow in Furness, Bristol, Brough, Portsmouth, Weymouth, Frimley or Coventry but offers hybrid working and flexible working hours (individual circumstances can be discussed).\nThey work at the cutting edge of technology, creating more than 100 new inventions every year for customers in over 100 countries.\nThe successful candidate will be joining the Combat Systems team and will provide support to the Engineering Manager and/or external specialists during development, analysis, integration and verification of Combat System and its sub-systems. The Principal Electrical Design Engineering primary role is to develop the electrical system architecture for the Combat System and work with the WB Electrical teams to deliver a suitable system design.

The Principal Engineer shall act as the CS lead for all electrical aspects of the Combat System level design. The Principal Engineer shall be responsible for developing plans and scheduling project activities to meet the maturity targets of the programme while managing the resolution of any emergent issues.\nMain Responsibilities:\n * Developing the Combat System Electrical Architecture working in conjunction with the Whole Boat Electrical team to deliver a viable design including high integrity capability\n * Representing the Combat System team at the relevant working groups to support the platform and Combat System design maturity\n * Leading the integration strategy in conjunction with the CS Build team with the platform design teams by developing strategies for routed systems including cabling\n * Delivering technical input and engineering solutions in support of build and integration activities, defect resolution and change management\n * Coordinating the Combat Systems sub-system teams to develop a suitable electrical system architecture\n * Representing Combat Systems at the Electrical and Cooling Working Groups\n * Attending Major Area reviews to ensure Combat Systems is maintaining a viable design within the platform\nBenefits:\n * Enhanced Pension scheme- up to 14% combined\n * Flexible working pattern including working from home/ flexible start and finish times\n * 25 holiday days plus bank holidays- 26 days after 5 years’ service/ 27 days after 10 years’ service\n * Shared Incentive Plan\n * Employee Assistance Programme\n * Cycle to Work Scheme\n * Life Assurance\n * Discounted health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits\n * Green car scheme\n * Private health plans\nAbout You:\nEssential:\n * BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent\n * CEng (or be able to satisfy requirements for CEng)\n * Technical report writing skills\n * Demonstrable experience of engineering lifecycle\nDesirable:\n * Knowledge and experience in defence standards whilst not essential would be an advantage\n * Experience of submarine electrical systems and the application of scenarios is highly desirable\nYou must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years\nAbout Aeropeople:\nWhether you’re looking for your next job or searching out the next superstar to join your team…\nAeropeople’s expertise and experience is entrenched in the aerospace, aviation, engineering, motorsport, automotive, and defence industries.
