Transmission Technician (Protection, SCADA & System Monitoring) Location: Eurocentral office (this role is predominantly site based on sites across our transmission network) Salary: £37,560 - £46,950 Permanent / Full-time – 37 hours per week Closing date: 9th April 2026 Help us create a better future, quicker! We have an excellent opportunity for a Transmission Technician to join our Network Operations team within Transmission. This role supports the installation, maintenance, and coordination of light wiring activities across the Protection, System Monitoring and SCADA functions within the PCM department. Working across approximately 180 substations within the SPT network, you will play a key part in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of critical operational activities and investment programmes. What You’ll Be Doing Carry out light wiring installations and modifications as part of protection relay installations and replacements. Liaise closely with the Protection team and work independently under ET cards. Maintain strong working relationships across all relevant internal teams. Support other departmental activities including fault recorder upgrades, commissioning and SCADA CTC wiring. Contribute to the delivery of RIIO‑T3 objectives. Act as the logistical point of contact for Transmission Protection spares. Assist with operational telecoms queries and fault finding. Work effectively as part of a technical team delivering services that support the SPT network. Collaborate with colleagues across TNOps to support timely and effective delivery of operational plans. Manage time and resources to maximise team performance. What You’ll Bring An electrical background, with an HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering desirable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage your own workload and priorities effectively. Experience working with light wiring interfaces on the power system network — ideally in protection, telecoms or SCADA environments. A sound understanding of basic protection philosophy and safe wiring practices. (Desirable) Experience within Transmission, Distribution or Telecoms environments. The ability to problem solve both independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of network and business data systems, along with network management systems. A full UK driving licence — this is a site‑based role requiring regular travel.
