Quality Assurance Engineer
Location: Birmingham
Salary: Up to £45,000 (depending on experience)
About the Role
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in metal machining environments and a solid background in quality control systems, inspection, and continuous improvement.
This role plays a key part in ensuring that products meet the highest standards of precision, durability, and finish.
Key Responsibilities
Product Inspection & Testing

Inspect machined components for defects and ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.

Perform testing and validation against defined quality standards.
Process Monitoring
*
Monitor production processes using established SOPs.
*
Identify deviations and implement corrective actions promptly.
Quality Documentation
*
Develop, update, and maintain quality documentation including:
*
Inspection procedures
*
Test plans
*
Quality control guidelines
*
Process documentation
Root Cause Analysis
*
Investigate product defects using structured problem-solving methods.
*
Develop and implement corrective and preventative action plans (CAPA).
Cross-Functional Collaboration
*
Work closely with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve quality issues.
*
Support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes.
Training & Support
*
Train and mentor team members on quality assurance processes and standards.
*
Promote a culture of quality throughout the organisation.
Mandatory Requirements
*
Proficiency in CAD software.
*
Strong knowledge of metals, machining processes, and tooling.
*
Good understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
*
Knowledge of drawing control and engineering change management.
*
Experience producing technical documentation for manufacturing teams.
Desirable (Not Essential)
*
Experience with Autodesk Vault.
*
Knowledge of SAP and document control systems (e.g., Vault).
*
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
*
Hands-on experience within shop floor machining environments.
*
Experience within hardware manufacturing.
Hours
* 7.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 7.30am to 12.30pm Friday.
