Job Description:
A new vacancy for a Principal Transport Planner is now available in Fareham or Cambridge to join a large development planning focused Transport Planning team. They are looking for an experienced Transport Planner with at least 7 years experience.
You will need to demonstrate the ability to lead your own Transport Planning team, work with others to win new work across sectors such as residential, commercial, infrastructure, and sports & Leisure.
It will be your responsibility to lead and train your team of transport planners whilst being responsible for the quality assurance and technical output of your team. You will liaise with stakeholders and clients daily and work with the Associates to identify new revenue streams and ensure work is delivered on time and within budget.
Principal Transport Planner Requirements
* Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
* Membership of professional organisation, e.g., CIHT
* At least 7 years transport planning experience
* Extensive Transport Planning experience, demonstrating practical and theoretical specialist knowledge
* Experience in managing/training team members
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to prioritise workload and delegate tasks
* Experience with computer-based systems including Microsoft programs
* Ability to work on own initiative
Additional Responsibilities
* Write, check, and approve technical reports such as Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, and Technical Notes
* Understand modelling packages and methodologies to calculate trip generation and distributions
* Support preparation of and approve technical drawings where appropriate
* Experience in preparing appeal documentation including Statement of Case, Statement of Common Ground, and Proof of Evidence
* Attend as expert witness at appeal hearings and/or public inquiries
* Manage schemes, including budget and time management
* Client liaison and management
* Mentor and support staff development
* Lead meetings and contribute to team strategies
* Prepare, check, and issue fee proposals and tenders
* Identify business development opportunities including networking
* Develop KPIs and team strategies
* Line management responsibilities including appraisals
* Assist with project responsibilities and cover for colleagues as needed
