Job Description
We are working with a client in the St Helens area to recruit a Family Support Worker to assist qualified social workers in supporting, protecting, and helping families involved with Children's Social Care.This role involves providing practical, hands-on support to children and their families, contributing to assessments, delivering intervention programmes, and facilitating supervised Family Time.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support social workers with assessments, care plans, and case management.
* Work proactively with families to build trust and engagement.
* Deliver practical support and intervention programmes to children and families.
* Facilitate Family Time sessions, including evenings and weekends, and assist with arrangements.
* Ensure the voice of the child is central to all assessments and care plans.
* Monitor family progress using tools like Signs of Safety and Graded Care Profile.
* Attend case conferences, reviews, and meetings as required.
* Maintain clear, accurate records in line with council procedures.
* Work collaboratively with internal teams, partner agencies, and community organisations.
* Follow safeguarding policies, health and safety guidelines, and maintain professional standards.
Key Requirements:
* Experience working with children, young people, and families in a social care or related setting.
* Understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
* Ability to engage and build positive relationships with families, including those difficult to reach.
* Strong communication and record-keeping skills.
* Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and across St Helens as required.
