About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Autism Support Assistant to provide targeted support for pupils with autism. The role is ideal for someone who can deliver personalised learning and behavioural support, helping pupils access the curriculum and develop social, emotional, and communication skills. This is an excellent opportunity to make a tangible difference to children’s learning and day-to-day school experience.
Responsibilities
 * Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism, ensuring engagement and progress in learning activities.
 * Assist teachers in delivering differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning goals.
 * Support pupils with personal care as needed, maintaining dignity and respect at all times.
 * Implement positive behaviour strategies to manage challenging behaviour and encourage self-regulation.
 * Encourage pupils’ independence, confidence, and social skills in both classroom and outdoor learning activities.
 * Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure consistent, needs-based support.
 * Maintain accurate records and contribute to ongoing support plans and reviews.
Qualifications and Experience
 * Experience working with pupils with autism or additional learning needs is highly desirable.
 * Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patience and empathy.
 * Understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and inclusive education principles.
 * Relevant qualifications, such as CACHE Level 2/3, Health and Social Care, or Education Support, are advantageous.
 * Must have the right to work in the UK and hold, or be willing to apply for, an Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service.
